Goodbye, Camp Perry!

Uncategorized

Just a week ago, I was driving back home from the National Matches 2019 held at the historic Camp Perry, Ohio. It was my fifth time at Camp Perry, and it was so great to see the old friends again, and make a few new friends, and chat with all the people at the assembly area, and shop at the Commercial Row! Like many others, I really hate to see the NRA moving out of Perry. To me, it was much more than just a great match – there are many great matches across the country. It was a unique experience. And since I cannot change the way the things are, all I can do is say big thank you to all who kept Perry going for so many years.

Goodbye, Camp Perry! I will never forget you!

  1. This too was my fifth year at the NRA match. I agree with what you are saying, but I also expect to be back here for CMP matches. I also expect I will check out Atterbury (sp?) and anticipate a whole new set of memories and experiences. I find I enjoy all the venues where I shoot Bullseye and feel that a big part of it all are the people who shoot Bullseye and come to the various matches. I see so many of the folks I know in more than one place and expect that will continue.

    1. Joel, if you enjoy shooting at different venues, please consider coming to the Phoenix Desert Midwinter matches next February. It’s a great event, we shoot International, 2700, service pistol 900 and all the EIC and DR matches too. It’s a 5 days deal, and we usually have full three relays. The weather is great too!

      1. That is getting closer to reality. I now have two friends living in that area in the winter and may be 3 in the not too distant future. I have heard good things about the match. I’m thinking when I retire I am going to drive the country and go to regional matches all over the country.

      2. That may be closer to reality all the time. I now have 2 friends with winter places in that area and may soon have a 3rd. I have heard good things about the match. I also think when I retire I would like to drive around the country going to regional matches all over the country. Not hitting each one every year, but getting to as many as I can.
